Visit of Information Security Management System (ISMS) Product Manager to DQS Malaysia: Building Local Competency

“The new source of power is not money in the hands of a few, but information in the hands of many,” quoted from John Naisbitt, an American futurist who foreseen the important of confidentiality and security of data and information. Information being one of the most crucial assets nowadays for organizations (besides labor, land and capital goods) must not only been protected, but managed in the way that systematic handling and traceability is possible. This is where ISO 27001, the Information Security Management System talks about.

On 24th to 26th of March 2010, DQS Malaysia with pleasure has invited the Product Manager of Information Security Management System (ISMS), Mr. Reinhard Witzke to pay us a visit. This visit was planned not only wishing the product and the standard ISO/IEC 27001 can be introduced to DQS Malaysia in more detail by Mr. Witzke, but the ultimate goal was to build our local competency on ISMS to answer the growing market needs.

The significance of information security in the context of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) is growing, thanks to a whole range of national and international laws and guidelines. By having the three days training we got our auditors expose to the standard in greater detail. This given us unique insight and perspective on how to help our customers make the most from their information security management systems which we delivered with total integrity through independence, impartiality and now, localize and in more cost saving way.
