Malaysia is known as a multiracial country. Because of that, Malaysians celebrates many festivals, which one of them is Hari Raya Aidilfitri. This festival is celebrated by Muslims through out the whole country. But before they could celebrate the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival, the Muslims must perform a one month fasting in the month of Ramadhan.
Ramadhan is known as the holy month, full of blessings, forgiveness, sharing and caring. In conjunction with the month of Ramadhan, DQS Malaysia has decided to share some happy moments with the unfortunate ones at Rumah Titian Kasih (shelter home for orphans, single mothers, old folks, disabled people, etc.
Founded in 1988, Rumah Titian Kasih is now having more than 100 residents. In order for them to survive the daily expenses, the single mothers are making and selling traditional biscuits. As far as we are concern, Rumah Titian Kasih is not sponsored by any organization.
On 13th September 2009, the DQS Malaysia team made a visit to Rumah Titian Kasih. We spent time with them, we talked to them, we took some of the children to shop for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, and we even donated some money and 50 bags of rice to them.
Each one of us took one child to shop for the Hari Raya. We brought them to the nearest Hypermarket mall, and we assisted them to choose their desired Hari Raya clothes. In another word, that day, we literally became a parent to them for one day. We know it’s not the same, but we do know that we left a sentiment results to the children.
It was a great experience to each one of us, and if God willing, we are going to pursue this to be the yearly event. As what our Managing Director, Mr. Danny Ng told us, “We work hard to earn a living, work hard to earn money and we spend money, we also need to learn how to give to those needed”.
We hope that Rumah Titian Kasih will hold the fine memories with us, because believe us, we had the fun spending time with them.
We also would like to take this opportunity to wish all our Muslim customers, colleagues, and friends, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin.
