When the aerospace industry realized that it was necessary to supplement the ISO quality management system model to satisfy internal, government and regulatory requirements for the aerospace industry, AS/EN9100 standard was established. This standard comprises the ISO9001:2000 requirements augmented by aerospace industry specify requirements. It was the result of an international effort by aerospace companies with common goal of establishing a quality management system for use within the aerospace industry.
